Kolovraty In the Past |
|
![]() Kolovraty is one of the oldest villages in the whole region. In the early 12th century the local fortified manor-house was the home to a renowned noble family - the Earls of Kolowraty. The fortress protected an important land trail on which salt and silver was transported to Prague. Historical documents dating back to the 13th century mention several vineyards and two Gothic churches - the St. Andrew´s Church in Kolovraty and St. Martin´s Church in Lipany. ![]() Small bell tower is a remarkable sight commemorating the original village of Tehovice, it still serves its original purpose. Another landmark worth mentioning is the Baroque statue of the Saint Donatus, the patron of peasants, dating back to 1765. Newly built housing estate carries the name of the saint today. The vanished fortified manor-house had been replaced by another modern housing estate, where a monument commemorating the first owner of Kolovraty, lord Mladota, was recently erected.
